Fiber ropes
Synthetic and fiber ropes
At CERTEX Danmark A/S you will find a wide range of synthetic & fiber ropes. They are available in different designs, such as 12-strand braided rope, 3-strand rope and spliced fiber. A tagline is also a type of fiber rope, manufactured with a spiral effect to provide a good grip on the rope.
Fiber ropes are used in many different applications
In the maritime sector, fiber ropes are primarily used for mooring, towing, pickup lines, anchor lines, and general rope handling. Synthetic and fiber ropes are also widely used in the fishing industry, especially the types with 0% water absorption. For climbing and mountaineering, fiber ropes are used for safety equipment and as climbing ropes.
In industry, fiber ropes are used for hoisting materials up and down, for general purposes such as bundling materials, and within various engineering tasks.
Fiber ropes are available in different materials
Polypropylene, also called PP. It has good chemical resistance and is a lightweight material. Polyamide is known for its high tensile strength, elasticity and excellent shock absorption. Dyneema®, also known as the world’s strongest fiber, is a type of HMPE fiber (High Modulus PolyEthylene). These fibers are 15 times stronger than steel by weight.
Sisal is made from plant fibers from agave plants and is almost as strong as manila hemp.
When should I choose fiber ropes?
There are several advantages to choosing synthetic & fiber ropes instead of, for example, a steel wire rope or chain. Fiber ropes are significantly lighter than traditional steel wire ropes, making them easier to transport and handle. In addition, modern fiber ropes have a very high strength-to-weight ratio and can often handle loads comparable to or exceeding those of steel wire ropes. Fiber ropes are also resistant to corrosion, which makes them ideal for use in wet or corrosive environments, such as the marine sector or chemical industries. Moreover, synthetic & fiber ropes require minimal maintenance compared to steel wire ropes and can often be cleaned with ordinary water and soap.
