Jacks
A jack is an efficient tool that enables lifting objects from floor level. It can be a mechanical jack for lighter objects and equipment, or a hydraulic jack for lifting, for example, larger vehicles during repairs, tire changes, or similar tasks.
What is a jack?
A jack is a lifting device used to lift heavy objects off the ground. You will find them in workshops and car repair shops, as well as in industry, where jacks are useful for maintaining machinery and equipment.
The mechanical jack
The mechanical jack typically consists of a steel frame with a handle and a gear or threaded mechanism that provides the lifting motion.
With a mechanical jack, mechanical power transmission provides the lifting motion, raising the load. No hydraulics or electricity is needed here. That means the mechanical jack is easy to operate, but it can only lift lighter loads.
Our own POWERTEX jack has a WLL of up to 10 tons and is suitable for both horizontal and vertical work.
A jack is a helpful tool that is often easy to transport, making it practical to have in case of an emergency or for quick repairs. It is available in different sizes and with different lifting capacities. With the POWERTEX PRJ-S2, you get a mechanical jack with a large base plate, making it extra stable. It has mechanical parts made of high-strength steel, a durable steel housing that protects them, and a foldable handle.
The hydraulic jack
The hydraulic jack, also called a machine jack, uses hydraulic power to lift heavy equipment or heavy vehicles. This type of jack has a cylinder filled with hydraulic fluid, a pump that applies pressure to the fluid, and a piston rod that lifts the load. It works as follows: when the pump is activated, it creates pressure on the hydraulic fluid in the cylinder, causing the piston to rise and lift the heavy load.
With a hydraulic jack you get a stable tool that can lift very heavy loads with great precision. Our own POWERTEX hydraulic jack type PTJ-S1 is available with a WLL of up to 25 tons. This jack also features overload protection for extra safety and an adjustable lowering speed for smooth load lowering. We of course also offer other jack models, such as a bottle jack that handles up to 30 tons, or a GKS machine jack suitable for work in factories, rigs, workshop,s and similar environments.
Jacks for professional use
Our range of jacks is intended for professional use and, of course, complies with all safety and certification requirements. Our own POWERTEX jacks are equipped with an RFID chip for easy access to the tool’s service status, as well as QR codes with on-site access to user manuals in various languages.
Testing and inspection of jacks
When lifting heavy loads, safety must be a top priority. This naturally also applies when using jacks, helping prevent workplace accidents. Make sure to inspect the jack before use visually. Look for signs of damage, including cracks, loose parts, or deformation.
If you have a hydraulic jack, inspect the hydraulic system for leaks and dents/cracks in the hoses, and check the fluid for contamination. The jack’s lifting capacity and safety features should be tested regularly and recorded in the tool’s service log by a competent person.
Our range of jacks includes several types, all available to purchase directly from our webshop. If you need help or guidance, you are, of course, welcome to contact us.
