Heavy lifting slings

Heavy lifting slings, also known as webbing slings, round slings, wire slings, or chain slings, are essential tools in many industrial and commercial lifting operations. They are used to lift heavy loads safely and efficiently. They are made from various materials, including synthetic fibers such as Dyneema®, HMPE, polyester, aramid, and chain or steel wire rope, depending on the application and load requirements.

Synthetic heavy-duty lifting slings

This type of lifting sling is popular due to its flexibility, lightweight, and corrosion resistance. Polyester slings are mainly known for their strength and durability and can be colour-coded to indicate their lifting capacity. Nylon slings have a certain elasticity, which can be advantageous in some lifting situations where shock absorption is necessary.

Wire slings

Like chain slings, wire slings are made with one or more legs. They are extremely strong and often used in heavy lifting operations where synthetic slings are not sufficient. Wire slings are resistant to wear and can handle very high loads. Additionally, the legs of the sling are stiffer than those in a chain sling.

Chain slings

Chain slings are perhaps the most well-known lifting slings. They are also very robust and wear resistant. The legs of chain slings can be extended using shortening hooks, providing extra flexibility in lifting operations.

When using heavy-duty lifting slings, it is essential to follow specific safety procedures to avoid accidents and injuries. This includes regular inspection of the slings for signs of wear, damage, or deformation. It is also crucial to ensure that the slings are appropriately sized for the load to be lifted and correctly attached to both the load and the lifting equipment.
